Girl Scout Day is an annual event in January in which we invite 100 Girl Scouts to campus to participate in STEM-related demos and workshops. Professional industry engineers lead these workshops and Rice women engineering students assist throughout the day. Activities for this year’s event cover topics such as polymers, plane design, acids/bases, petroleum, and bridge building. The event has been very successful in the past. Girl Scouts have a blast seeing the demos and participating in the workshops. Volunteers love seeing how endlessly curious the girls are and answering their questions.
