National Society of Women in Engineering Conference

Each year the Society of Women Engineers hosts a national conference for women engineers and employers, and Rice SWE helps subsidize our members’ attendance. Every fall, we take a group of members to the conference to connect with thousands of inspiring female engineers, explore new opportunities, and network at one of the largest career fairs in the country. Check out the 2025 conference here!

Evening with Industry

Evening with Industry (EWI) is a casual networking event run by SWE for engineering students, clubs and companies. Students get to mingle with employers over hors d’oeuvres the night before the campus career fair in a more casual environment, and companies can connect with clubs on campus in person. Students also get their resumes circulated to companies beforehand in order to maximize networking opportunities.

Outreach

SWE is dedicated to empowering young girls to explore the world of STEM through engaging and interactive outreach programs. From our Reach for the Stars STEM Festival to Introduce a Girl to Engineering (IAGTE), we provide hands-on activities, inspiring role models, and opportunities to spark curiosity and confidence in engineering. Join us in making a difference and encouraging the next generation of women in STEM!

Rice SWE is continuously striving to expose K-12 students to STEM fields through our outreach events. In October, we host a booth at Project Pumpkin, which is an RSVP event that gives children, particularly those of refugees a safe place to celebrate Halloween and trick-or-treat. In late January, SWE hosts Girl Scout Day, bringing 100 Girl Scouts to campus to participate in STEM workshops and demos. Reach for the Stars is held in April and is geared towards attracting middle school girls to STEM fields. The event features several booths set up in the Engineering Quad with different STEM-related activities. In collaboration with the SWE Houston chapter, we are organizing an Introduce a Girl to Engineering event to be held on campus in May.
